However, this idea works only if you want a “light dusting” of snow. For heavier, more lumpy snow, I suggest checking out self-adhesive snow flock. It requires a little more time to apply, but looks more realistic.
How long do the batteries typically last in the pre-lit garlands?
With daily use, you can expect 3 AA batteries to last about 30 days, at which point you just need to switch them out. Some people opt to use re-chargeable batteries to minimize waste. And no, batteries don’t come with the garland, so plan on supplying your own.
Pro Tip: To extend battery life, opt for longer-lasting alkaline batteries and implement the timer. The energy-efficient LED bulbs also use very little power. And when not in use, store batteries in a cool dry place (extreme temps can deteriorate performance).
Does the lighted garland have a timer?
Yes, the lights have 3 modes: on, off and an 8-hour timer. Therefore, you can conveniently turn the lights on at dusk, and they will automatically shut off 8 hours later while you’re sleeping.
Note: The lights don’t flash, and the package does not include a remote control. Alternatively, you can get a garland with lights that flash, fade, etc., but you’ll pay about $14 more.
